Final score 23 Moneyglass vs 18 Glenravel (points)

This was an absorbing, entertaining and closely fought game between two evenly matchedteams. Missing two key players, Moneyglass were forced to field a reorganised team. However, right from the throw in they displayed great determination and teamwork, moving the ball quickly upfield with probing kick passes, taking three points without reply. Glenravel then levelled with a goal, quickly followed by a point. Tit for tat scores followed with Moneyglass edging into a halftime lead of 0 -9 to 1 -4.

Early in the second half, a heavy rain shower that made the pitch and ball greasy, added to the excitement and tension. Sensing victory, both teams “upped the ante”, playing courageous, clever and adventurous football in the now “tricky conditions”. Well worked scores came at both ends and it was only in the final five minutes that Moneyglass edged ahead to win by five points.

Both teams displayed great discipline, determination and skill in this game, which was a pleasure to watch. Consistency of approach will pay dividends for both teams in the remaining games of this season - win, lose or draw!
