Under 16 Win Against Glenravel

p6190219_edited.JPG

Final score 23 Moneyglass vs 18 Glenravel (points)

This was an absorbing, entertaining and closely fought game between two evenly matchedteams. Missing two key players, Moneyglass were forced to field a reorganised team. However, right from the throw in they displayed great determination and teamwork, moving the ball quickly upfield with probing kick passes, taking three points without reply. Glenravel then levelled with a goal, quickly followed by a point. Tit for tat scores followed with Moneyglass edging into a halftime lead of 0 -9 to 1 -4.

Early in the second half, a heavy rain shower that made the pitch and ball greasy, added to the excitement and tension. Sensing victory, both teams “upped the ante”, playing courageous, clever and adventurous football in the now “tricky conditions”. Well worked scores came at both ends and it was only in the final five minutes that Moneyglass edged ahead to win by five points.

Both teams displayed great discipline, determination and skill in this game, which was a pleasure to watch. Consistency of approach will pay dividends for both teams in the remaining games of this season - win, lose or draw!

Fun Day now 2nd August

Our Family fun day is now on 2th August and will include bouncy castles face painting and lots more activities this year than before . The events are to be finalised by Elaine and will be posted on this site when available .

Terrence Mc Williams visit

The morning was fool of fun for the kids from all the underage teams who attended , later in the morning the under 14 and even the senior team had advice from our guest . Again Terrence commented on how well the children behaved , listened and asked good questions . A sixteen week programme is to begin following the guidelines of the go games

Children must be encouraged by their parents at home to practice with their own No 2 ball and also to follow a healthy diet and drink plenty of fluid . Young children dehydrate faster than older players such as the  minor and senior players .

Blackthorn Event Pictures

The night was a great success and was supported by 250 people from Moneyglass and surrounding clubs .
